Happy Friday, everyone. This week I’m resending an essay about the Montessori math curriculum. The Montessori curriculum is unreasonably effective. The materials not only allow children to learn more earlier, and not only allow children to learn more effectively, but they also allow children to learn more deeply—to acquire knowledge in a way that allows for the formation of deep character traits.
The importance of counting the Montessori way, must have some significance for epistemology. Ayn Rand said “conceptual awareness is the algebra of cognition.“
I would think that a solid understanding of counting and place values will be an invaluable foundation for excellence in algebra and higher math.
