Happy Friday, everyone. One of the things we teach our toddlers is how to independently put on a coat or jacket. Putting on a coat is a surprisingly difficult task. One has to sort of wriggle one’s shoulders into it without having a clear line of sight. This is why it’s nice when someone helps you with a coat, even as an adult. For a toddler, it’s impossible to do without help.
Feeling capable and confident is the key to success and joy. When a child has a positive experience flipping his coat he is more willing to try other tasks he has never done before. It is a joy to see their little faces as they succeed.

Using a sleeveless garment and practicing when sitting first are lovely ways to gently build capacity for the coat flip!
